St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church

December 18, 2007

 

Present:

Senior Warden Chris Large; Junior Warden Cooley Smith; Elaine Braverman; John Kurek; Judy Champa; Sheryl Otter; Kitty Herndon

 

Prayer:

Chris Large opened the meeting with prayer.

 

Call to order:

The meeting began about 6:30 p.m.

 

Minutes of the Nov. 15, 2007 meeting:

Cooley Smith motioned acceptance of the minutes; Elaine Braverman seconded acceptance; the motion was approved on voice vote.

 

Financial report through November, 2007:

Chris noted that pledge income is down for the period but our overall income exceeds expenses at the present time. The report was approved on voice vote.

 

Old business:

Chris said newsletter articles are due Dec. 30.

 

Elaine brought a copy of the Stewardship letter that will be mailed to parishioners this week. The pledge clerk, Hal Olsen will be asked to hold off giving out pledge envelopes for 2008 until the first Sunday of January.

 

Dawn Chance has completed the rough draft of the calling tree. She is asking 7 parishioners to be group leaders and Chris is getting new member’s information together for Dawn to include. 

 

Discussion continued on new Vestry members to replace retiring members, Cooley, Gail Allen & Joann Gott. No names were officially presented.

 

Mission Strategy meeting with Rev. Janet Richardson will follow this meeting at 7:00.

 

There will not be a Giving/Angel Tree this year but this will be brought up again in 2008.

 

Vestry members were reminded to think about what their 2008 Goals for this parish might be.  Chris mentioned her goal is to have a regular education program in place.

 

Property Commission: The nursery floor has been measured and the estimate has been accepted by Women’s Guild with the work beginning after Jan 1.

 

Upcoming events: Annual meeting, January 27th & Anniversary Celebration. Chris asked that besides Carolyn Williams & Chuck Christoph, were their any other charter members left in this parish?

 

Cooley mentioned that retired Bishop Clyde Wood will be visiting the United States in the Spring.  Rev Malcomb Boyd will not be able to make the journey to St. Timothy’s but discussion continued on a possible web-cast with Rev Boyd & Very Rev Bob Giannini as moderator. This will be pursued.
